Experimental condition In the PE condition, all participants completed an endurance training session lasting 1 h on a computer-based stationary bicycle with built-in heart rate monitoring. We chose endurance training as physical exercise in the present study, as it represents a type of sport that is often conducted by females to burn calories. In order to keep the participants within the optimal heart rate zone between 65 and 85% of maximum heart rate for optimal physical adaptation (Cooper, 1982), the stationary bicycle calculated the necessary resistance power.
