In this work, recent efforts have been focused on the prelithiation
of safer negative-electrode materials. Prelithiated Si
negative electrodes[3] have attracted a great deal of interest for
pairing with Li-deficient positive electrodes, because Si has ten
times the theoretical specific capacity (4200 mAhg¢1)[4] of commercial
graphite negative electrodes (372 mAhg¢1). Si also fulfills
the need for high safety, potentially lower costs, and environmental
friendliness.
