An IS seeking comprehensiveness—involving careful decisions and quick responses through knowledge of other organizations—best helps Analyzers as they simultaneously build on prior strengths and pursue new opportunities. The alignment between these IS roles and business strategies has been found to affect business and IS performance.-^^ However, IS is sometimes not considered strategic at all, being
relegated to little more than simply supporting business operations.^
