Disadvantages of manual database system?
1. It is time consuming to write down all the information.
2. The data is stored in registers which are stored in filing cabinets which take up a lot of space.
3. The same data may get repeated over and over since the workers find it hard to keep track of documents and information.
4. Receipts and data about customers usually get misplaced during manual filing so amount of stock in account compared with the amount of stock in the store is different and trying to find and match the accounts with the stock is a tedious and time consuming task.
5. In a manual database system, information must be found by hand rather than electronically. Looking for information in a manual database may take hours searching for a particular piece of data.
6. A manual database is very vulnerable to a fire or natural disasters.
7. As there is only one copy of the data, serious problems may occur in case the file is lost or damaged or if it is needed by more than one person at a time.
8. Though there are no high electricity costs, but there is quite a lot of paper and stationery that is needed to be bought causing more storage area to be needed making it quite costly.
