These are enormous quantities of resources which, if recycled,
would be economically and environmentally beneficial to the
country. Based on the total amount of solid waste generated in
Thailand (Table 2) as well as the estimated amount of construction
waste (Table 3), this study estimated that about 7.7% of all wastes
disposed of (whether in landfills or In open dumps) are construction
wastes. This figure is expected to increase when wastes from
the construction of infrastructure as well as maintenance and
demolition activities are considered.
