The Flåm Railway is widely recognised as one of the world's most amazing railway lines, most recently named the world's best train journey in 2014 by Lonely Planet. A trip on this astonishing railway from sea level at the fjordside to the high mountain covers an elevation of nearly 900 metres at a gradient of 1 in 18. One of the 20 tunnels on the Flåm Railway horseshoes around inside the mountain, and the journey repeatedly offers breathtaking views! The Flåm Railway is a branch line of the Bergen Line. There are nine-ten departures daily in high season from May to September and four-five departures daily for the rest of the year.
