Vitamin uptake rates measured during the 2009 and 2010 C.
polykrikoides blooms revealed that B1 and B12 were utilized
differently by bloom compared to non-bloom communities.
Overall the presence of C. polykrikoides did not result in a
significant change of the mean total uptake rate of B1 in the
bloom compared to non-bloom water (p > 0.05, 9.95 2.09 and
10.1 2.61 pmol L1 d1, respectively), although at times uptake was
higher (15 September, 2010) or lower (1 September 2009 and 2
September 2010) in the bloom (Fig. 6B).
