It was observed that the concentration of VGCFs® in the network of the present study was did not vary with distance from either the anode or cathode. Electrophoresis was not visible during the experiments. VGCFs® near both electrodes (within about 10 μm) were rotated, oriented, and moved toward the nearest electrode. These fibers then became sources of high field strength and locations for the connection of other fibers. In the middle area, VGCFs® were rotated, oriented, and became connected to one another, without electrophoresis, resulting in networks of uniform concentration along the direction of electric flux. No electrophoresis implies that the VGCFs® were not charged or the resistance against their movement was high due to a high matrix viscosity.
