Djokovic comes from behind to beat Nadal in Rome
Novak Djokovic won the Rome Masters in magnificent style as he beat Rafa Nadal at the Foro Italico.
The world number two hit a stunning 46 winners in the course of the match, while also hitting serves and returns of a standard that was at times almost beyond belief.
Nadal, who had looked comfortable in waltzing through the first set, simply had no answer to the world number two, who played some of his very best tennis to claim the title.
Nadal was uncharacteristically error-strewn throughout, and after his worst clay court season for a decade - with only a solitary victory, in Madrid - he will fear for his chances of winning a ninth French Open title at Roland Garros next month.
Djokovic, by contrast, will head to Paris with his confidence sky high after claiming his fifth Masters series victory in the last six Masters tournaments.
The Serb has made no secret of the fact that victory at Roland Garros is the title he now most covets, as it would complete his career Grand Slam - and on current form, he will never have a better chance than this season.
