Context
D: environmental aspects
While car traffic is continuously growing the
occupancy level of cars is simultaneously
decreasing. Studies point out that by
increasing the occupancy level of a car from
one to two persons a profit in travel time
and a loss of CO2 emission of 30% might be
achieved.
D: public transport policy
Improve the current public transport
situation in rural areas by making public
transport more private and private
transport more public. Since the
occupancy level of cars is evidently low
the exploitation of available seats in
private cars – especially for commuter
purposes – is considered as an essential
approach in the development of
alternative and sustainable mobility
strategies in public transport.
