FASHION and Princess Beatrice do not seem to get on. Earlier this year her choice of hat at the royal wedding made her a laughing stock and now she has blotted her copybook once again, after apparently snubbing her Thai royal counterpart Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana, at Paris Fashion Week.
Accoring to The Daily Telegraph, 24-year-old Princess Sirivannavari spied Beatrice, the Queen’s granddaughter, at the Elie Saab show, where they both had front row seats, and decided to say hello. But when she approached she was stopped by the British royal's security and even though she explained herself, was told by Beatrice's gruff security officer: "She don't want to meet no princesses. She's sitting here, not getting up."
Princess Sirivannavari, who comes from a country where insulting the King is a crime, appeared less than impressed with the snub. After being refused an audience with Beatrice, she turned on her heel and was apparently heard to remark: "Is that the sort of princess you've got?"
The pair then sat metres apart as they watched the show.
Beatrice has managed to reclaim her dignity after being riduculed for wearing a Philip Treacy hat that was likened to a toilet seat, a pretzel and a pair of antlers at the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton earlier this year, and her recent outfits had won approval from fashionistas.
However, Princess Sirivannavari, the granddaughter of the Thai king, has the greater fashion credentials. She is a fashion student back home and has even shown her own designs in Paris. The Elie Saab show was the fifth she had attended during the week.
And in 2008 Sirivannavari was voted 16th in a Forbes league table of the most attractive young royals. Beatrice was fourth.
