Case study evidence n on Social patterns in the wider class group From the information gathered about social patterns in the wider class group, Class 4, it was evident that children's friendship tended not to be based within that class group, a typical social behaviour at playtimes being children running to the playground or dining hall to find their friends. Only a few children appeared to have one close friend and some were loners. In their interviews, the class teacher and Kyle's support worker both confirmed the fact that children's typical social network was across several classes. Through out the school, classes were changed on a yearly basis so that children's friendships were often based on who they had been with in a previous class. They also confirmed that there were only a few 'best friends' in Class 4 and that conflict among friends was an issue, particularly for a group of girls
