Financial institutions imposed more stringent lending conditions and terms on borrowers in some sectors, raised the margins for normal loans, and required even higher margins from riskier borrowers. Higher non-interest charges were also imposed, especially on SMEs whose credit lines were tightened at the same time. Nevertheless, a number of financial institutions observed some improvement in the loan quality of SMEs as reflected in the regular repayment of loans.
