Dear TRIS Parents and Staff,
I hope this finds you well.
As you know, student safety is a very important consideration for any school, and we are trying to make our soi and parking lot more safe for our families, students, and teachers.
To this end, we have met with representatives from the Thong Lo Police Station, the local authority, to discuss several proposed changes, and they are considering our plans. Many of you have already completed a survey regarding these changes.
Most notably:
1) Soi 2 will become one-way, ultimately exiting through Soi 3 OR through the alleys at the end of the "U" connecting Soi 2 and Soi 3. This one-way traffic will allow for vehicles to proceed more efficiently and safely. If approved, this plan will also allow for parking on Soi 2 and Soi 3. Otherwise, the police have indicated that they will no longer allow parking anywhere on the sois themselves.
2) The TRIS parking lot will continue in the same "shape," but vehicles will ONLY be allowed to exit to the right. Eliminating cross-traffic will enhance student safety and traffic flow.
3) Our TRIS vans are no longer parking on campus until 08:00, after all students have been dropped off, to avoid the chance of collisions with students or vehicles.
4) Drop-off will now be permitted ONLY in front of the gate/awning area so that we do not have students walking through the street OR through different parts of the parking lot.
5) The center section of the TRIS parking lot is now reserved only for drop-off (temporary) stopping until 08:00. In all cases, only faculty and staff may park for extended periods of time anywhere in the parking lot. We do not have adequate spaces to allow for parents to leave their cars here during the day except for short visits to campus. This will allow for more temporary parking for our families during drop-off time.
You will find attached a map with guidelines for travel and parking in both English and Thai. Our new system will take some "getting used to," but we firmly believe that our students will benefit from this. Upon approval from the Thong Lo Police Station, the one-way principle will apply to ALL drivers in the area. For right now, we are simply asking for your cooperation in following this plan.
As always, thank you for your support of TRIS. If you have questions, drop by for a chat at any time.
Sincerely,
Greg Armbrister
Head of School
