RADIO TUNING
PRIMUS EPIC® radios can be tuned using the MCDU or the CCD with the
associated PFD.
However, CCD can only be used to tune COM1, COM2, NAV1, NAV2 and to
change the Transponder codes.
NOTE
When a frequency is modified, the display of the associated control
is immediately updated, whilst the updating of the other frequency
displays is delayed.
RADIO TUNING USING CCD
The CCD in conjunction with the associated PFD is a secondary means of
radio tuning the selected COM/NAV channels and the transponder.
The COM and NAV active and standby frequencies are shown in boxes at
the bottom of the PFD display.
The joystick on the CCD selects the radio to be retuned which then displays
both ACTIVE and PRESET frequencies.
The SET concentric knobs on the CCD adjust the preset frequency.
The ENTER button on the CCD swaps the active and preset frequencies.
RADIO TUNING USING MCDU
All PRIMUS EPIC® radios can be tuned using the MCDU using any of the
following three methods:
• Tuning knob and frequency swapping
• Numeric keypad (frequency typing)
• Recall from memory
TUNING KNOB AND FREQUENCY SWAPPING
The tuning knob adjusts the PRESET frequency highlighted by the MCDU
cursor.
The cursor can be moved on any preset frequency by pressing the
corresponding LSK.
Once the preset frequency has been set, it can moved to the ACTIVE line
by pressing the corresponding LSK identified by the swap icon .
The previous active frequency will be immediately transferred into the preset
line.
This operation is also available in the radio detail page when the cursor is on
the PRESET line.
NUMERIC KEYPAD (FREQUENCY TYPING)
The desired frequency can be typed using the numeric keypad. As keys are
pressed, the scratchpad shows the entered data.
The CLR key can be used to remove the last character entered (similar to a
backspace key).
Once the frequency has been typed, it can either be moved into the
PRESET line or into the ACTIVE line by pressing the corresponding LSK.
As the data moves to the selected line, the scratchpad clears.
In case a wrong entry has been attempted (i.e. moving a COM frequency to
a NAV radio), the INVALID DATA message is displayed in the
scratchpad.
Message is acknowledged by pushing the CLR button; The entered data
reappears in the scratchpad ready for a different move or editing.
This operation is also available in the radio detail page.
