Combination is a process of assembling new and existing explicit
knowledge into a systemic knowledge. For example a researcher can assemble
an array of previously existing explicit knowledge in order to prepare a new set
of specifications for a prototype of a new product. Or an engineer can combine
available drawings and design specifications to produce a new process design or
equipment. What commonly occurs is the combination of a newly created concept
with existing knowledge to produce something tangible (e.g., a new product model).
