Designed jointly by 3XN and E. Pihl, the
shades are made from perforated white aluminum panels approximately 3.4 m tall and 1.5 m wide that can be
opened or closed remotely by office occupants through
their computers. The system will even change the apparent
color of the building’s facade from bright white,
when all of the shades are fully closed on a very sunny
day, to something that is gray or displays a pattern of
light and dark rectangles when some or all of the shades
are open to let in light on a cloudy day, says Nielsen.
