As safety is our biggest concern in our everyday work, I would like to address the following procedure, handling the Hybrid models 222 S-class and 212 E-class also any other Hybrid car made by Mercedes Benz in the near future.
This working procedure is valid for every kind of work performed on a Hybrid vehicle of Mercedes Benz.
No work, including service, repair and parts of PDI is to perform with the high voltage system in active conditions!
If we are supposed to lift the car from the ground, the high voltage system needs to be in passive conditions!
Sample:
One customer is bringing his Hybrid in to our workshop for repair.
Diagnose on the car will be performed by a trained technician.
Before repair the high voltage system has to be deactivated, the deactivation protocol has to be printed out, signed by the technician and placed behind the windshield wipers on the windscreen of the car.
The high voltage system has to be manually locked, to prevent activation by accident.
Only after deactivating the high voltage system, maintenance or repair work can performed on this Hybrid vehicle.
Is the repair or maintenance finished, the technician which deactivated the system has to conduct the activation process for the high voltage system, print out the activation protocol, sign the protocol and collect all documents related to the workshop stay of the Hybrid car together with the job card for a proper documentation.
In concern of the safety of us all, I demand from everybody in the workshop that he is following the procedure for Hybrid vehicles of Mercedes Benz.
Violations of the regulations for Hybrid vehicles will be subject to a disciplinary punishment of all the involved persons!
