The TPFBR used was a pillar glass reactor with a working height of 46 cm, diameter
of 3.6 cm and working volume of 468 mL (Fig. 1). The base plate was made
of a porous screen plate on which small holes was distributed evenly to support
gel-entrapped particles. Fluidized dynamics was enabled by aseptic air which was
also the oxygen source. After filtration, air was aerated by air pump at the bottom
of reactor. Circulating constant water in the jacket regulated the temperature of bioreactor. Exhaust gas was discharged after condensation. Light was intercepted
with a piece of cloth in order to prevent the product from photo degrading.
