Rice is the seed of the monocot plant Oryza sativa, of the grass family (Poaceae). As a cereal grain, cultivated rice is pivotal staple food for a large part of world’s population. The consumption growth of rice will be even stronger in the future than what has been witnessed in the past two decades ( Mohanty, 2013). It follows that efficient rice-based production systems are essential for economic development in addition to food security. However, the focus is not merely hitting the harvest targets, in all chance, post-harvest treatments own a crucial attention to avoid losses that put hard-earned rice to waste.
