Chemical compositions and bioactive compounds in raw rice bran
The chemical compositions and bioactive compounds of raw rice bran before being subjected to extraction are shown in Table 1. The black waxy rice bran contained comparable levels of proximate compositions to other types of rice bran reported previously by Loypimai et al. (2009), and Nontasan et al. (2012). The bran was an excellent source of three major anthocyanins: cyanidin-3-O-glucoside (1838.3 ± 12.6 μg/g), delphinidin (453.3 ± 7.33 μg/g) and pelargonidin (334.9 ± 10.2 μg/g). Moreover, the raw rice bran was also high in tocols and γ-oryzanol.
