The oxidation of biomass and organic compounds via microbial
metabolism has been widely used in fermentation for the production
of useful materials, including foods, food additives, chemicals
and organic acids. Such fermentation, which is characterized
by the accumulation of a large amount of a microbial metabolic
intermediate resulting from the digestion of biomass and organic
compounds, is called oxidative fermentation. In principle, MFC
technology can be applied to the production of useful materials by
