The analytical method for the determination of BaP used in the
present work complies with the performance criteria set up for BaP
in a Commission Regulation (Regulation (EC) No 333/2007), which
has replaced Commission Directive 2005/10/EC from 1 June 2007.
The method is well suited for food control purposes. The official
control of the levels of benzo[a]pyrene in Swedish smoked meat
and fish carried out in 2006 and 2007 has shown that the majority
of products comply with the EU regulation.
