I found the Thais to be far more xenophobic and "Pan-Asianistic" towards white people and they generally have not been taught to respect them. They were taught a few lies by their government how they are some kind of Asian empire who leads other Asia countries in a fight against being colonized by the evil farangs.
I would not mind living in Thailand as an Asian American or any other person with Oriental features. I have seen how well my Malaysian, Korean and Japanese friends integrated there and were accepted, but not whites.
As a white guy, I do not think it is a good idea to live in Thailand long term. Some people were nice, but they even have bars and establishments outside of tourist areas where they will not allow non Orientals in.
If you come from the West you want to get away from racial discrimination, not walk into more of it. So I vote Thailand down.
The Philippines, although not perfect is much better race-wise if you are white. For one, a Filipina girl walking with a white guy in a small town is not assumed to be a prostitute, but rather, a pen-pal or just a wife. Mixed kids are not discriminated against.
So, depending on what your priorities are, you can take the right pick. My priority is to live in a country with less racism and more social mixing. I don't want another USA with its race problems.
