The first experiment (difference tests) was a series of
three triangle tests to determine if consumers could detect
a sensory difference between wine samples bottled in
three types of closures. Consumers were given coded
wine samples with no information on the closure for the
sample. The second experiment (quality assessment tests)
consisted of two sessions with the same consumer participating
in both sessions. The objective was to compare
wine consumer perceptions of wine quality when they
tasted the wine but were unaware of the closure type in
session 1 with their perceptions when they tasted the
wine and were informed of the closure type in session 2.
