2.1 OVERVIEW AND OBJECTIVES
Generally, the planning for replacement of aged asset should be intensively considered in order to reduce the risk of damage to the nearby property and to reinforce the security and reliability of the electricity supply. However, the actual performance of asset depends on several factors such as different degradation rate, age, utilization, installation location, level of maintenance, manufacturer/model etc. The questions regarding how to rank the replacement tasks, which major equipment in high voltage substations should be replaced and how to systematically evaluate their asset performance to support the decision for replacement planning are of prime concerns to the utility. Therefore, the procedure for high voltage equipment, substation bay and substation performance evaluation are proposed in this work.
The web application software was also developed to evaluate the performance of major equipment in 115, 230, and 500 kV substations such as power circuit breaker (CB), disconnecting switch (DS), current transformer (CT), voltage transformer (VT), and surge arrester (SA). Major equipment in 54 aged substations in Thailand transmission network has been accessed by the developed software.
