psychologists practicing industry and organisation psychology often confront situations in which the technically correct or ideal is not possible. In such cases, psychologists must educate their clients and potential clients about the inherent limitations and the alternatives which may work best or be most defensible in specific applications. Generally, however, the client cannot be expected to be knowledgeable about the technical issues involved or the alternatives available . It is the psychologist is ethical obligation to assure that the alternative and risks of alternative courses of action are clearly presented to the client . When a potential client insists on proceeding with a strategy that the psychologist knows to be problematic or misguided, it may be more appropriate to decline an assignment rather than undertake a course of action known to be seriously flawed.
