Due to the political unrest in 2014, international air transport experienced the lack of
growth and airlines tended to apply more conservative strategies. The number of
international routes and flight frequencies also declined, which could be seen by the
decreasing in number of scheduled services offered by airlines at Suvarnabhumi in 2014
dropped to 162 destinations in 59 countries from 169 destinations in 63 countries of the last
year. The number of international scheduled routes also dropped in Phuket due to the
political situation.
