COD values determined for Glucopone®650, Findet
®1214 N/23 and LAS were 335.5 ± 0.5, 384.5 ± 3.5 and
345.5 ± 0.5 mg O2/l, respectively; in contrast with the
value obtained for the bioemulsifier, 10.9 ± 0.2 mg O2/l.
Regarding the BOD5, for the three chemical surfactants,
the value obtained was around 35 mg O2/l, whereas in
the case of the bioemulsifier that value was 9.5 ± 2.0 mg
O2/l. The lower COD and BOD5 values obtained for this
bioemulsifier when compared with the chemical SACs
indicate that it is more easily biodegradable.
