The second section focused on travel patterns relating to the respondents’ most recent solo vacation, such as when the trip occurred and the length of the trip. The third section consisted of 20 leisure travel motivations derived from a thorough review of the literature. Respondents were asked to evaluate the level of importance of this set of attributes representing leisure travel motivations. A 5-point Likert-type scale was used to measure the level of importance of attributes and ranged from ‘1 ¼ very unimportant’ to ‘5 ¼ very important’. Since demographic characteristics are known to influence travel and since we wanted to assess any such effects, the fourth section consisted of questions pertaining to demographic characteristics.
