The limited number of movie downloads available on iTunes would significantly diminish the success of Apple TV. Thus, Apple’s CEO was persistent in his negotiations with the movie studios. Jobs announced at the Macworld Expo in 2008 that Apple had reached agreement with each of the following major studios: Twentieth Century Fox, The Walt Disney Studios, Warner Bros, Paramount, Sony Pictures Entertainment, MGM, Lionsgate, and New Line Cinema. Despite NBC’s issues with Apple concerning TV shows, Universal Pictures (owned by NBC and General Electric) has agreed to allow Apple to rent its movies via iTunes.
