Using current evidence and good practice guidelines,
we went on to detail specific help and support for
staff working with the patient and, ultimately, to
assist them in pro-actively caring for people with
BPD while promoting optimum recovery. Valuable
contributions were carefully co-ordinated from all nursing staff, a psychiatrist, a psychologist, the
community mental health teams and other hospital
disciplines. An individualised, structured care plan
of activity and movement for the patient was then
formulated. A clear focus was placed on the patient’s
recovery and helping her to understand her situation
with education and non-judgemental support.
