Dried onion shells as a fresh source of flavone dye (Quercetin) were purchased from local market of Faisalabad, Pakistan. Raw gray cotton fabric was obtained from Noor Fatima Textile (Pvt.), Faisalabad. The fabric was bleached and mercerized prior to dyeing (Bhatti et al., 2012a). Onion shells were pulverized and sieved up to 20 meshes to obtain powder of uniform particle size. Cotton fabrics and dye powder were exposed to absorbed doses of 2–10 kGy using Cs-137 gamma irradiating facility at Nuclear Institute of Agriculture and Biology (NIAB), Pakistan
