Otani and Shimada (1991) used leaf explants to obtain callus
on Linsmaier and Skoog (1965) (LS) medium supplemented with
1.0 mg l−1 2,4-D and different concentrations of Kin. Two types of
callus formed after 20–30 days of culture: one was transparent and
friable while the other was opaque, white and compact. Transparent
and friable callus produced numerous somatic embryos
