Wet cyclones are forms of centrifugal scrubber (CS), which differ from ordinary cyclones in that the deposition
surface is irrigated [1, 2]. The suspended particles are removed in a wet cyclone, as in a dry one, in the main by centrifugal
(inertial) forces, with the irrigation of the internal walls preventing the carrying away of the deposited particles, and thus to
a considerable degree it enhances the performance of the dust trapping for essentially the same hydraulic resistance.
The range of industrially used Russian equipment of this type is narrow [2]: the TsSVTI scrubber; wet cyclones with
water films TsVP-I and TsVP-II, which differ in inlet pipe size (the baffle in the inlet tube reduces the inlet area of the TsVP-II
by a factor 2 relative to the TsVP-I); the SIOT high-speed washer; the centrifugal scrubber of battery type STsVB-20, which
differs in design from the others (which have a single structure with tangential gas inlet) in that there are four elements mounted within with internal diameter 0.3 m, while the spiraling of the gas flow is provided by a bladed device at the inlet.
The probability energy method with a probability integral [3, 4] is used to calculate the performance of a wet
cyclone, as for other inertial mechanical dust traps. The method is based on determining d50, the particle diameter trapped
