The mechanic is that the sick villie will pick up one herb at the market, carry it to the herbalist -- who should not be really, really far away -- and the herbalist mixes up one batch of medicine which will cure that one villie 1/2 heart. So ...... if your health is 0/5 then you have LOTS of really sick villies, and it will take a LOT of visits to the herbalist(s) and a LOT of herbs stored in the market. If your only herbalist is way far away in the deep woods, then you probably ought to build a herbalists shack right down-town next to the market, so that the villies don't have to walk so far.
