‘I did,’ she said. ‘And my heart still feels heavy.’
She heard Min Ho sigh. ‘I know what you mean. I feel like I just crushed a boy’s dreams. That kid is really nice, too.’
‘But oppa, how did you know that Jong Suk, uhh, likes me? Did he tell you?’
‘Nope. I saw him come out of your building last week. I figured he visited you. No guy makes that effort if he wasn’t into a girl,’ Min Ho replied.
Shin Hye stopped the car and turned to him. ‘Chincha? So you knew he went to the apartment?’
‘Hmm,’ he said, nodding his head. ‘Don’t worry, I know it’s harmless. That’s why I didn’t bring it up.’
‘So you went back?’ She asked, bright-eyed. ‘You went back to my apartment that morning? Why didn’t you tell me? And why didn’t you come inside?
Min Ho smiled sheepishly. ‘Don’t be mad, but I kind of followed Jong Suk out. I wasn’t even able to step into the elevator.’
Shin Hye laughed. ‘You stalked him? You know you’re Lee Min Ho, right? That’s beneath you.’
‘Nothing is beneath me when it comes to you,’ he said. 'If I have to go through the entire blacklist, I will.'
She smiled. ‘Why did you come back? To my apartment, I mean.'
Min Ho reached for her hand and intertwined his fingers with hers. ‘I was driving away, thinking I did the right thing by leaving. But the farther I got, the more awful I felt. I shouldn’t have left like that. Not when things weren’t completely okay between us yet. It was a jerk move. I went back to apologize.’
‘Well, you should have just come back up and left poor Jong Suk alone.’
‘I should have, right?’ Min Ho shook his head. ‘I missed a few more hours alone with you. It’s okay, we can make up for missed opportunities,’ he grinned mischievously.
Shin Hye narrowed her eyes, then released Min Ho’s hand to start the car again. When they were almost near Min Ho’s building, he turned to her.
‘Stay for a bit.’
She suppressed a smile. She was feeling butterflies in her stomach again. ‘I can’t. I have a meeting tomorrow with Geun Suk oppa for our CF.’
Min Ho furrowed his brows. ‘How is that related to you staying for a bit?’
Shin Hye pulled over a block away from his building and turned to him. ‘Because staying for a bit means staying over, and the meeting is in the morning. No can do.’
‘Cham na,' Min Ho threw his head back. 'How can you make that assumption? Aigoooooo, you really are a pyuntae. Just have coffee with me, eo? I want to hear about Malaysia.’
‘I already had coffee with Jong Suk. And I gave you a blow by blow account of everything I did in Malaysia whenever you called. There’s nothing more to tell you.’
‘Tell me what you and Jong Suk talked about then.’
‘He told me to be happy. That’s all.’
Min Ho pouted. ‘You’re really not going up? I’m leaving for China in a few days and I’ll be there til the end of the month. We won’t see each other for almost two weeks. You’re still going to leave?’
Shin Hye bit her lip as she thought about it. She’d be lying if she said that she didn’t want to go up. Min Ho’s pleading face was enough to make her yield. It wasn't like she was opposed to some cuddling and a few sweet kisses. Besides, just thinking about not seeing him for two weeks made her miss him already.
‘Fine, but just a bit, okay? Just a bit. I’m not sleeping over,’ Shin Hye squinted.
Min Ho raised his hand, as if making a pledge. ‘I won’t let you sleep over even if you begged.’
