Companies maintain a strong focus on customers in their innovation processes. This not only applies to large companies, but also to small- and medium sized businesses. Internal knowledge and skills are very important sources of innovation, and so are customers. Other sources remain important to company innovation; however, this is not fully reflected in the companies’ interaction and networks.
Overall, the results indicate that user-driven innovation is a key factor for all three industries. In light of this, it is important to map the level of co-operation between companies and their external business partners. Th e next chapter will shed light on this issue.
