This research discusses about problem in teaching and learning English at the Faculty of International Studies, Prince of Songkla University, Phuket Campus. A questionnaire and interviews showed the problems that hinder the learning and teaching of the English language at FIS. The results consisted of two problems about students were their low skill and low motivation, teachers and the administrators encountered similar specific problems.

In this research discusses about questions of influence students’ motivation for learning English grammar. A questionnaire that give to students of two classes at a Swedish upper secondary school. This research showed students were positive towards grammar and thought that the teacher-student relationship was to some extent important for learning grammar. The important source of motivation was to have a good grade and it was clear that they learn grammar different and they thought that teacher-talking time was a good way for them to learn grammar but not for making it interesting and motivational.

This research purpose to inquire the petroleum engineering students’ motivation and attitudes toward learning the English language. A questionnaire and interviews showed that the students have certain reasons for learning the language such as the use of English in the Yemeni social context, the use of English in the Yemeni educational context, the English language and the culture of the English speaking world identify and hold significant attitudes toward the use of English language that should consider by English instructors and syllabus designers at the PED at HUST in preparing their materials, curriculum and teaching methods.
