The Legend of Ban Yan Din Daeng
Once upon a time, there was a beautiful and gentle woman named Wanthong or Mae Sri Wanthong. Wanthong lived with her old parent at Kanla. A lot of men wanted to marry her but she didn't agree to marry anyone. Phaya Yod Nam-an immortal fairy who was entrusted by God Indra to protect the range of mountains called "the Panombenja". He was a handsome man at the period of the waxing moon and became the king of snake at the period of the waning moon and and Pha Pumduang. Wanthong’s parents died during the year, then she decided to bring her parents’ bone to Phraborrommatat Nakhonsithammarat.
Wanthong became Phaya Takam’s wife when she brought her mother’s bone to Praborrommatat Chaiya. No sooner, she knew that Phaya Takam had 3 wives before her. So she decided to go back to Ban Kanla.
Phaya Yod Nam went to Wanthong’s house to press for her promise. At the same time, Phaya Takam went to meet Wanthong, too. Both of them took their army to fought with each other at Ipan river mouth.
Lots of snake army and crocodile army died. The blood spread over the land. The area are red of the of the color of fresh blood. This is the legend why do we call the area “ Ban Yan Din Daeng”.
