Effective January 1, 2014, the MVA will implement a new process for immigrants, applying for a drivers license or ID card that will require them to obtain a certification of tax filings for the preceding two years from the Comptroller’s Office. The agency is currently fine tuning procedures for MVA applicants requiring certification of tax filings. By November 1, an on-line process to obtain on-line certification of tax filings will be available. In addition, for those applicants who are not able to obtain on-line certification, the Comptroller’s Office will offer an online scheduling process that will allow MVA applicants to schedule an appointment to visit one of our twelve branch offices to obtain the required certification of tax filings.
