Taken together, our results demonstrate that fish oil inhibits ILK expression through PPARγ
signaling that results in activation of p38 MAPK and induction of AP-2α protein expression,
followed by AP-2 DNA binding activity. In turn, the inhibition of ILK expression results in
inhibition of NSCLC cell proliferation. This study unveils a novel mechanism by which fish
oil inhibits human lung cancer cell growth.
