Pahuja et al. (2013) designed and tested a WSN system deployed for greenhouse microclimate monitoring. Their network, based on IEEE 802.15.4 and XMeshTM routing protocol, provided monitoring of temperature and relative humidity in the greenhouse. To enhance the system performance, the greenhouse crops’ vapour pressure deficit (VPD) was analysed and a VPD-based fuzzy climate controller was designed. Park et al. (2011) and Park and Park (2011) developed a greenhouse automatic control system based on WSNs, which can realize monitoring and control of the dew point, and prevent the dew condensation phenomena on the crop’s surface, in this way helping prevent disease and infection. By installing WSN sensors and CCTV cameras, a system is built to collect and monitor information related to the growth environment of crops outside and inside of paprika greenhouses (Hwang et al., 2010). Ma and Gang (2013) designed a monitoring system based on ZigBee, a star network topology inside the greenhouse, and mesh topology was used to connect the greenhouses and the management system.
