Different analytical methodologies used for quantitative
evaluation of heated oils are Gas Chromatography (GC), High
Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Ultra Visible
Spectrometry (UV) and Fourier Transform Infrared (FT-IR)
Spectroscopic techniques. There are several advantages of
the FT-IR technique over the other conventional physical
and chemical methods due to its ease of sample handling,
quickness and low requirement of sufficient quantity of
hazardous solvents, improvement in the signal to noise ratio,
reduction in the scan time, and requirement ofhigh energy
throughout, in this technique all wavelengths are recorded
simultaneously
