2.8. Radical scavenging activity
The radical scavenging activity towards the DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) radical was estimated following method of Brand-Williams et al. (1995). For this, 3.9 ml aliquot of DPPH solu-tion (0.0634 mM) in 95% methanol was added to 0.1 ml of sample extract. The change in absorbance of the sample was recorded at 515 nm for 30 min against 95% methanol as blank, till the absorbance reaches a steady state. Percentage radical scavenging activity was calculated as (A0− A1)/A0 where, A0was the initial absorbance at 515 nm and A1was the final absorbance of the samevolume of sample extract.
