Taxi drivers refusing to take intending passengers to their stated destinations is the subject of most complaints filed over the grievances hotline during Songkran, the Department of Land Transport reported on Wednesday.
Director-general Asdsathai Rattanadilok said more than 800 people lodged complaints over its 1584 hotline, and more than 600 were complaints about the taxi service and mostly about drivers refusing fares.
The department also received about 300 complaints at its ad-hoc centres set up at bus terminals at Chatuchak, Ekamai and Sai Tai during the Songkran festival. Most of the complaints were about buses overcharging for tickets and dangerous driving.
The department will call in the taxi drivers subject to the complaints and fine them, he said. The offence carries a maximum penalty of a 1,000 baht fine.
