Another provider of health care is the private sector, where in Egypt it plays an
important role in delivering health care. The private sector consists of both non-profit
non-governmental organization providers, as well as for-profit providers, such
as private medical clinics, private hospitals and pharmacies. Competition within the
private sector has induced the provision of optimum care and hence, the private sector
became highly rated in the region over the years (Rannan-Eliya et al., 1997;World health organization, 2009).
