rise in exports this year, raising the estimated total shipment value
to up USD507mln.

7.7% rise YoY to the US, contrasting with exports from Thai and the
Philippines, which he records fell by 17% and 32% respectively.
· Record Skipjack catch “the result of indiscriminate use of
FADs”: helped along by a record skipjack catch, 2015 EPO total tuna
landings have soared to a level never seen before, shooting up a
steep 14% from the previous year.
· Pinsa expands with $30 mln on new plant: Pinsa its sights
set on expanding into another segment of the canned seafood market,
as it is reported the firm has invested $30 mln into a new processing
plant for sardines.
· US market loses its taste for Thai canned tuna: Thai canners
are fighting to keep up their export volumes to the US market, but it
appears that buyers in the nation have been losing taste for the
product, as imports into the massive market from Thailand drop a
drastic 28%.
· EU investigators sent to yellow carded Thailand: Thai was
handed a yellow card on IUU back in Apr 2015, and now fishery
stakeholders are expecting that it will be cancelled next month, or
at least they will be given another six months to make continued
progress and avoid a red card.
· First BKK skipjack price rise in months: for the first time
since Aug, the price for the whole round skipjack in Bangkok has
taken a slight upward trend, with changing mood bringing several
buyers back to the market.
