The word Syntax is derived from the Greek elements "syn", meaning "together", and "tax" meaning "arranging". Syntax is the study of language structure and word order (Matthew, 1981). It attempts to describe the relationship between units at the level of words and how structure relations between lexical items or words in a sentence. Syntax is a level of grammar that specifically refers to the arrangement of words and morphemes in the construction of sentences. Syntax deals with the interrelationship of the elements that make up sentences, and the different rules of arrangement in constructing statements, questions, commands, and other types of utterances.
