Drug calculation ability test
The drug calculation ability test consists of 20 questions covering
the main types of drug calculations, i.e. calculating doses
for solid and liquid oral medications and injections, percentage
solutions and intravenous fluids (Table 1). Each correct
answer gives one point, and scores can range from 0 to 20
points. For analysis, the scores were converted into percentages
and could therefore range from 0% to 100%. Before use
the test was sent to nursing academics with expertise in drug
calculations to check independently for face validity, with
feedback and corrections being incorporated into the test.
